First, I want to make it clear that I am not against training courses, books, or six weeks business courses aimed at giving you the tools you need to start and run a successful business. In fact, I just scheduled a conference and I am reading a new book every week… so I believe in those things!

But, what still blows my mind is volume of business owners doing $1,000,000+ with year over year growth that feel lost, confused, and some even feel like imposters, they think:

“What am I doing?”

“Where am I going?”

“What should I focus on?”

“What’s next?”

YET, they are doing millions of dollars in sales!!!

I know it sounds crazy because people associate the entrepreneur as an “alpha”, “charismatic”, etc., etc…

But, that it just a picture that Hollywood has depicted. Just consider your LinkedIn, the amount of business owners that are actively influencing the platform on a regular basis is small.

The truth is most business owners feel like they are on a roller coaster ride and are wondering if they should open their eye or keep them closed and just get through the ride…

So, what’s the issue?

The issue is lack of clarity. Most business owners don’t know where to focus.

So, what brings clarity?

What kind of goals?

Revenue goals.

Unless you are a charity (and even they have fund goals… your goal is to make money. If you aren’t good at that… well, you know what happens.

Sure, it might sound too simple, cliché, maybe even corny.

But, it’s the stone cold truth.

I know, there’s something that doesn’t feel right when you make it your business’ vision to make more money… and I think that’s what keep business owners from just saying it and making it a clear goal.

Some of it has to do with, again Hollywood… when you make it your goal to make more money… it just sounds so Wolf of Wall Street in a way and that’s just not you… right?

The realty is wanting to make more money and bringing clarity to that vision leads to a better organization and attracts better people.

To make more money you have to be better, you have to have the right people, the right processes, the right customer service… it leads to good things, not bad things.

Wanting to make more money, a lot of money does not make you greedy…

It makes you better.

Therefore, I am giving you permission to make it your goal and vision to make more money.

You don’t need to take a class for 6 weeks to figure out what you need to focus on. I’m telling you what it is.

Sure, accounting, finance, culture… matters.

But they matter to the extent they make you more money.

Community matters too… and guess what? When you make more money you will be able to help even more!

So, how do you feel now?

Doesn’t it feel better knowing where to focus?

Your strategy year over year is –

Make a revenue goal then back into the activities needed to hit those goals.

Want clarity?

Make a profit goal.

Happy visioneering!
